Author and historian Doug Bostick will be signing copies of his newest book, Historic Photos of South Carolina, at the Preservation Society on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 1:00-3:00pm.
Blessed by the attention of photographers for more than 150 years, this fascinating collection of photographs brings the stories of the people and history of South Carolina to life. In his newest book, historian Doug Bostick chronicles the history of his home state since 1860, as viewed through the lens of a camera. This pictorial volume includes dozens of photographs of Charleston and the Lowcountry and all of South Carolina during the Civil War, Reconstruction, and the 20th Century.
Doug Bostick is a native of James Island and an eighth-generation South Carolinian. He graduated from the College of Charleston and earned a master's degree from the University of South Carolina. The author of eleven books on Southern history, Doug Bostick has an extensive knowledge of the state's history enhanced by a raconteur's gift for storytelling.
