The Preservation Society of Charleston announces an upcoming book signing for City of the Silent: The Charlestonians of Magnolia Cemetery by Ted Ashton Phillips, Jr. The book signing will be in the Society's Book & Gift Shop, located at 147 King Street, on Saturday, February 13, 2010 from 2:00 – 4:00pm.
Ted Ashton Phillips, Jr. (1959-2005), was a resident and historian of Charleston. Phillips' fascination with Magnolia Cemetery began when he was sixteen, working on the site as assistant groundskeeper and gravedigger. A graduate of Harvard University, the University of South Carolina School of Law, and member of the South Carolina BAR, Phillips later became a trustee of Magnolia Cemetery, a member of the Brown Fellowship Cemetery Committee, and an officer of the Preservation Society of Charleston.
Please join us in welcoming Thomas J. Brown, editor of City of the Silent, who will be signing books with Al Phillips, brother, and LaVonne Phillips, mother and un-credited coauthor, editor, and agent of the late Ted Ashton Phillips, Jr.
